The Q Acoustics 2050i is a new addition to the Q Acoustics latest 2000i Series, Q Acoustics believe that the new 2000i Series loudspeakers are clearly their best ever range. The Q Acoustics 2050i is a medium sized floor standing design that exudes quality. The beautifully finished, low resonance cabinet encapsulates the 25mm ferro-fluid cooled tweeter and two precision engineered 165mm bass drivers to produce a speaker with extended bass, an open mid-range, astonishing transient response and exceptional high frequency clarity.
As before, every part of the new speakers is bespoke, optimised specifically for each new model. Every model (except the new 2070Si subwoofer) benefits from an all new 25mm dome tweeter incorporating an advanced multi-layered cone material (rather than treated fabric) with 'super-decoupling' from the loudspeaker's baffle as well as integral damping. The new tweeter delivers extraordinarily low distortion which results in a 'sweeter' treble, improved imaging and wider soundstage.

The Q Acoustics 2050i main drive units benefit from a new state-of-the-art cone material. The previous paper/mica mix has been replaced with a new carbon fibre and ceramic coated paper material. Sonic benefits are again lower distortion, cleaner more open sound and faster transients. Needless to say, improvements to the tweeters and bass/mid units necessitated corresponding improvements to the crossovers.

An example is the Speaker Type function switch, which alters the characteristic of the subwoofer's frequency response at the crossover point. This allows the subwoofer to be optimised for use with either ported speakers, like the rest of the Q Acoustics range, or infinite baffle models.
