THE ONLY THING TO REMAIN THE SAME IS THE NAME

The new KEF R Series has been completely re-engineered from the ground up. Decades of experience and our unbridled passion for music come together in the new R Series. It combines innovations drawn from the Reference Series with new bespoke technologies to ensure the new R Series delivers more detail, deeper insight and greater excitement.

Performance redefined. An icon born from The Reference.

Crafted initially for KEF's renowned product, The Reference, an array of cutting-edge technologies has seamlessly transitioned into the next iteration of the R Series. Whether employed in a stereo configuration for music enthusiasts or as part of a home theater arrangement, the R Series ensures that remarkable acoustic excellence is attainable by a wider audience. With the revolutionary inclusion of Metamaterial Absorption Technology, the R Series unveils unparalleled intricacy and profound discernment—an encounter that is undeniably worthy of savoring.

Innovation

R Series: Born from The Reference

Commencing from 1961, KEF's relentless pursuit of achieving flawless sound has been the driving force behind numerous breakthroughs in acoustics. A prime example of this commitment is exemplified by The Reference. By condensing decades of expertise into an acoustic presentation that exceeds all expectations, this design consistently establishes the standard for loudspeakers and sound replication. Presently, the most recent advancements in technology have seamlessly integrated themselves into the R Series as well.

Metamaterial Absorption TechnologyAbsorb 99% of unwanted sound

Central to the essence of the R Series lies the ingenious Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™). Characterized by an intricately intricate maze-like configuration, MAT™ possesses the remarkable capability to absorb an impressive 99% of undesirable noise originating from the rear of the driver. This absorption action effectively eradicates any resultant distortion, facilitating the delivery of sound that is exceptionally pristine and true to its natural essence.

Uni-Q®, Sit anywhere, hear every detail

Present across all seven models within the R Series, you'll discover a 12th generation Uni-Q® driver array enhanced by MAT™ technology. The Uni-Q® design functions as a singular focal point, effectively diffusing sound in a more uniform manner throughout the space. This outcome effectively eradicates the notion of a confined 'sweet spot,' enabling everyone positioned anywhere in the room to encounter and relish the exact same natural, intricately detailed auditory experience.

Performance

Performance redefined

Meticulously crafted for extraordinary acoustic performance, the R Series embodies an exceptional engineering approach. Each facet of the design has been meticulously fine-tuned to convey heightened intricacy and profound understanding, effectively rekindling the sensation of experiencing an authentic live music performance—complete with the full spectrum of emotion and subtlety that accompanies it.

A Flare for Detail

Derived from The Reference line, Shadow Flare represents an inventive solution for mitigating the adverse effects of high-frequency cabinet diffraction. This ingenious technique involves a meticulously contoured transition that extends the waveguide properties of Uni-Q®. The treble frequencies are allowed to disperse naturally, as the designated 'shadow region' prevents them from reaching the cabinet edges. The consequence of this innovation is a considerable enhancement in the resolution of subtle intricacies, yielding vastly improved fine details in audio reproduction.

Performance critical damping

A robust foundation is essential to achieve exceptional sound quality. The R Series capitalizes on the advantages of constrained layer damping, an approach that employs internal braces interconnected through a 'lossy' interface. This specialized material transforms undesirable vibrations into heat, guaranteeing that the cabinet solely produces the intended sound—the tranquil sound of silence.

True Bass Definition

The bass drivers within the R Series exhibit a dual-component construction comprising a shallow, concave aluminum surface overlaying a paper cone. This amalgamation of rigidity along with the distinctive geometric configuration of the cone results in a piston-like motion that imparts both forceful impact and swiftness. The magnet system of these drivers establishes a wide and evenly distributed magnetic field, ultimately yielding bass that is notably striking and commanding.

Flexible port for cleaner bass

Our desire is to solely perceive the output of the drivers, devoid of any disruptions caused by bass port-generated resonances or turbulence. In the case of the R Series, the ports integrate inventive flexible walls. Employing computational fluid dynamics, the design of each port's flare and profile is meticulously determined to postpone the initiation of turbulence. Meanwhile, the adaptable port walls are adept at preventing any resonances from tinting the midrange frequencies.

Versatility

Strength and versatility in numbers

R Series offers a choice of floorstanding speakers, bookshelf speakers, centre channel speakers and accompanying home theatre models. Each one offers the finest sound KEF has ever delivered in its category, whatever the dimensions of the room or system configuration.

Stereo for Music

The R Series consists of a trio of floorstanding speakers and a bookshelf speaker to reproduce high-fidelity stereo sound for your favourite music. Discover depth and detail you never knew existed – from the scrape of a plectrum on a guitar string to the emotion and atmosphere of a live performance.

Beautiful by design

Driven purely by acoustics, at KEF we believe there is a certain beauty even to the internal engineering fixings. The R Series has been created to be beautiful on the outside, and these finely tuned workings are protected behind a minimal exterior designed to fit seamlessly and elegantly into any interior scheme, whether traditional, modern or contemporary.
