Taken from Wikipedia “Bait-and-switch is a form of fraud used in retail sales but also employed in other contexts. First, customers are “baited” by merchants’ advertising products or services at a low price, but when customers visit the store, they discover that the advertised goods are not available, or the customers are pressured by sales people to consider similar, but higher priced items (“switching”)

Some retailers out there will say they carry brands that they do not. One tactic involves saying they carry a brand “XYZ” and they will give you an absolute ripper deal on this brand. However they will keep you waiting for weeks and weeks. Finally, they will say something like “Oh sorry XYZ is mucking us around, why not take ABC, they are just as good and I can get you a better deal on it.” The best thing to do would be to call the relevant supplier/distributor of the specific brand and confirm with them that the retailer you plan to purchase from is an Authorised Dealer.

Another thing to watch out for is how the dealer pushes a product. There is a dealer out there that changes his mind on products more than a politician up for re election. This is because sometimes he will get a better deal on a certain brand, mind you this very brand would have been torn apart and spat at by the same dealer the week before. Only difference now is a better buy price or better credits from the supplier of this product, so now its the best thing since sliced beard…Sorry I meant bread

Sometimes they will use a really far out example. “A guy ordered this really really high end product and left $50 deposit later pulled out so out they @ 40% off”

Anyway now for a great special – but for this special I will use a sales pitch of the aforementioned example. The Arcam AVR 380 RRP $2499 A customer ordered 3 to use for his 21 speaker system in his lounge room, unfortunately he had to pull out as he opted out by getting a sound bar. Oh well I guess I have to just get rid of them. Enter the code “cheesey” on http://www.digitalcinema.com.au/arcam-avr-380-surround-sound-receiver.html

On a serious note the above is a great special – please check it out.
