Van den Hul The First Metal Screen Analogue RCA Interconnect Cable Pair delivers ultra-clean audio with a 1 mm diameter Linear Structured Carbon (LSC) conductor composed of 12,000 individually insulated strands and a silver‑coated OFC metal screen. Its 7.5 mm Hulliflex jacket in peach‑orange is halogen‑free and built for durability. Designed for environments with complex grounding, tube equipment, or high interference, ideal for Hi‑Fi, phono, mic, instrument, or SPDIF (75 ohms) use.
LSC Coaxial Interconnect with Metal Shielding
The First Metal Screen is a continuation of our "The First" series of coaxial Linear Structured Carbon (LSC) interconnects, designed for premium audio and SPDIF digital signal transmission.
This version shares the same core structure as The First, but, as its name suggests, includes an added dense braided metal screen over the LSC shield. This screen uses high-purity, dense silver-coated Matched Crystal OFC. As such, The First Metal Screen can be considered the unbalanced coaxial equivalent of our The Second balanced LSC interconnect, which also features metal shielding.
The main difference within "The First" series lies in the shield resistance:
- The First Ultimate and The First Metal Screen have progressively lower shield resistance values - approximately 4.8 Ohm/m and 0.0049 Ohm/m, respectively.
- While the 100% metal-free version works hum- and noise-free in over 95% of line-level applications, The First Metal Screen is specially created for conditions involving strong ground currents (such as with some tube gear), complex grounding setups, or environments with high electrical interference.
This makes The First Metal Screen particularly suitable:
- As an interconnect between, to, or from tube equipment.
- For carrying low-level signals such as from phono cartridges, microphones, or musical instruments.
- As a long-distance interconnect.
- Unlike other models in "The First" line, The First Metal Screen is available in extended lengths beyond 1.5 meters upon request.
In terms of sound performance, The First Metal Screen is nearly identical to The First Ultimate.
